Judges at Californias recent Pacific Rim International Wine
Competition awarded the 2002 Chardonnay of Keswick Vineyards Best
of Class. Out of 2207 wine entries, Keswicks Chardonnay
was considered the best Chardonnay in the competition from the 2002
vintage. Over 70% of the wines entered were from California wineries.
The results will be posted online at http://www.nationalorangeshow.com/wine_competition.htm.
Judges designated the Best of Class award to
those wines that have scored significantly higher than other gold
medal wines in the same class. The award is to recognize those wines
the judges believe to have special characteristics over and above
the other gold medal recipients.
Keswick Vineyards is owned by Al and Cindy Schornberg, who chose
the historic Edgewood estate for their vineyard site when they discovered
that the unique terroir of Keswick produces wines of exceptional
quality. The winemaker hand selected only the best quality fruit
to create this Chardonnay. Barrel fermented and aged sur lies
in French oak barrels for six months, the result is a soft and elegant
wine.
Keswick Vineyards is located just north of Charlottesville, Virginia
on Route 231 in Keswick. Wine is available for sale by phone at
